Privacy

How information is used when you use FreeFile.

Information used to run the service

FreeFile stores the files you upload and information needed to manage them, such as filenames, sizes, upload times, and sharing settings. If you register, it stores your account details, including your name, email address, and a hashed password. Technical request information may be recorded to diagnose failures and protect the service from abuse.

Sessions and access

Browser session cookies keep you signed in and associate guest uploads with your browser session. They also support access to protected vaults. Clearing cookies or losing a guest session can prevent you from managing an unfinished upload.

Public links can be forwarded. Review access settings before sharing and avoid uploading sensitive information you do not want recipients to keep. Files are processed by the service to provide storage, previews, and downloads.

Service providers and disclosure

Infrastructure providers process information needed to host and deliver FreeFile. Information may also be disclosed when required by applicable law or needed to investigate abuse and protect users. External links and resources are subject to their providers’ own privacy practices.

Retention and deletion

Files and account information are kept as needed to provide the service. Incomplete uploads may be removed through maintenance. Account holders can manage files and request account deletion through their account. Removal from active storage may not immediately remove operational records or backup copies. FreeFile cannot erase copies saved by recipients.

Questions and data requests

Email [email protected] to ask about your information or request correction or deletion. Identify the account or relevant links without sending passwords. Verification may be needed before making changes.
